Subject: Don't participate in getting old

Hello,

There's a guy by the name of Aubrey de Grey who says the first people who'll live to be one thousand years old have already been born.

He's a famous researcher who claims he's drawn a roadmap to prevent aging.  And whether or not you believe his claims, he's done one thing which is undeniably correct.

And it's something you should do:  Map out your plan to not participate.

That's right.  Don't let yourself get old.  Too many people "let" old age happen to them.  But the truth is you have power over aging.

Think of it like this: Do you let your house get old?  Or do you do things to keep it new--like painting it and doing preventative maintenance?

Doesn't it seem logical that you should treat your body the same way?

Like your house, natural changes occur to your body.  For example, your body dissolves bone while it grows new bone--in fact transforming the bones in your face completely every 7 years.  Do you think a healthy diet would be important for such a nutritionally-oriented process?

Or what about the changes our muscles undergo?  After the age of 40, the average person loses 7 lbs. of muscle every decade.  But if you add strength training you can dramatically help to avoid injuries, resist aging and improve your quality of life.

So you have a choice--you can let yourself get old by just running your body into the ground.  Or you can do "preventative maintenance" and make a plan for how you will combat aging.

Here are some things to consider in your plan to fight getting "old."

· How will you safely continue your active lifestyle?

· What plan do you have in place to prevent injuries?

· How will you combat days when you don't feel like following your plan? (Get ideas here.)

· What experts do you have "waiting in the wings" for when or if you get injured?

· What proven methods for altering aging are in your plan? (In case you missed my email on anti-aging methods you can review it here.)

· How will you approach an injury if you get one?

By planning for these now you can effectively create your own rescue package from "body bankruptcy."

All too often I see people operating like they're still in their 20's.  Then all of a sudden they're injured.  They don't have an expert in place because they weren't planning for it.  So their doctor tells them to rest.  Instead of getting better, they get worse.  They end up on the bench watching...and you hear them say, "I must be getting old."  Don't let this be you.

Instead, create a long-term attitude and put together a Health Care Team to bail you out (in case of injury.)   Think young, challenge yourself and awaken the athlete inside who's excited about being active and competitive.  When you do this, you'll stay on track to a younger you.

And if you need some help with a plan to prevent future injury...  Or if you have body parts you're worried about injuring or re-injuring? Be sure to submit your questions to me on my Q & A with Mike Ryan .  Then you'll have at least one part of your plan against aging in place!

With Healthy Regards,
