| Hello, In April, during Olympic Trials, Joan Benoit Samuelson added another record to her collection. At age 51, Joan set the U.S. record for the 50-54 age group for the Women's Marathon. And while it would take me a whole email to list Joan's accomplishments, some of the highlights include being the first woman to win the inaugural marathon in the 1984 Olympics, winning the Boston Marathon twice, Chicago Marathon and Columbus Marathon. She has held multiple World Records as well as numerous U.S. records and has been inducted into several hall of fames. No stranger to injuries, one of her most remarkable feats was winning her Olympic berth for the 1984 Olympics just 2 ½ weeks after having knee surgery. When she's not running, she's a mother of two, a Nike consultant and clinician, and frequently speaks on running, health and fitness.
