Subject: Do you Really Need to Slow Down?

Hello,

Have you ever thought to yourself...I don't think there is a person alive who is busier than me? If so, then you know how I've been feeling these past couple of months. This arguably is one of the busiest NFL seasons I've ever had.

Yet, despite the long hours and seven day a week work schedule, I always make sure I get at least 6 or 7 hours of workout in a week.

It's not uncommon for people to question me about this. In fact, just the other day, one of the players asked me, "Why would you do that?"...wanting to know why I put in that extra 6 or 7 hours when I was so busy and run around all day already getting a good workout just doing that.

My question in return is always the same ...Why wouldn't I?

  • I'm easier to deal with...work with...and live with
  • I sleep better
  • I feel better
  • I have a better attitude
  • It gives me more energy
  • It keeps me feeling young

My wife knows when I haven't gotten my workout in--even before I tell her. If she senses that my stress level is high she'll ask me, "Did you get your workout in today?" And when I say no...she tells me, "You can't come home until you work out." Even though she knows that means I will be home an hour later.

She knows it's worth it to have me gone one more hour--even on an already late night--because I am easier to live with.

I look around and see people abusing the use of alcohol, drugs, food and sex...and I ask myself why? The answer is quite simple: They are seeking ways to make themselves feel better!

Yet exercise gives you that natural high and makes you feel better without the regret and hangovers associated with excessive alcohol, drugs, and food.

And it's the only thing I know of that always makes you feel younger and oh so alive.

So if YOU want to...feel better...feel alive...have more energy...improve your attitude...be easier to live with...or feel younger...make time for a strong exercise program--no matter how busy you get.

And if busy isn't your excuse, but injury is, find a different way to keep active while you are treating your injury.

In fact, sometimes a different type of exercise even treats your injury. For example, this week Kelly R. writes, "I have been suffering from chronic KNEE TENDINITIS and would love to hear your tricks to rehabilitating this injury?" Some of my answer includes exercises to strengthen the quad. You can read about them at http://www.mikeryanfitness.com/faq.php .

With Healthy Regards,
